Improve Your Health and Wellness
Generic Health and Wellness Tips 2023
1) Getting enough sleep really does have a huge impact on your health.
2) Drink enough water, it matters.
3) Eat whole foods.
4) Get outside.
5) Take care of your skin.
6) Practice gratitude.
7) Exercise your mind (reading, self-help, positive reinforcement) and your body.
8) Set measurable goals.
9) Your dental health matters (coming from the girl who brushed x2 per day and never missed an appointment and I got an infection in my mouth and it was so incredibly painful). See your dentist regularly!
10) Be open to trying new things.
Unique Wellness Tips
11) Your healthy routine really is 80% what you eat, 20% what you do in the gym. What you eat matters more.
12) Compound movements are the secret to seeing actual muscle definition and results faster in the gym.
13) You’re not always going to feel like it, and that’s okay.
14) Life is all about balance.
15) If you have a fitness physique goal, don’t waste your time trying to teach yourself. Invest in a program or a trainer of people you want to be more like and do the work.
Wellness Tips for Mental Health
16) Be present, time is the only thing we can’t get back.
17) Put your phone face down at the dinner table and be present with the people you’re actually with.
18) Scrolling your life away isn’t living. If you’re spending too much time on an app, delete it off your phone or move it into a folder that’s harder to find.
19) It’s okay to be grateful for what you have now while dreaming about what you’re working towards.
20) Don’t jump right from work to resting, have a buffer. For example, if I work late, I’ll always wind down with a hot shower to cue my mind and my body that it is time to sleep. You will always get better rest this way!
21) Notice what triggers your anxiety and do less of that.
22) It’s okay to not feel 100% all the time. You will ebb and flow, it’s normal.
23) If something upset you, talk it out. You will always feel better when you feel heard.
24) Screaming/yelling/outbursts at other people is a clear sign that you no longer know how to deal with your emotions. Take time to understand how you feel before expressing those feelings to others.
25) Killing with kindness (or taking the higher road) will always feel better.
26) You will find the most fulfillment when your life includes an aspect of helping others (in whatever way that means for you).
27) Spoiling yourself is not selfish, it’s self-care.
28) Sometimes, it’s okay to choose YOU.
Daily Health and Wellness Tips
29) You are the result of what you do, not what you say you’ll do. Set goals. Make a plan. Make it happen.
30) Small habits really do lead up to big results (consistent workouts, healthy choices, prioritizing your health).
31) If you’re trying to lose weight, consider paying more attention to the calories in your drinks. They add up way quicker than you’d think!
32) Always stretch after a workout (or as much as you can, I’m not perfect at this), it matters!
33) How you breathe through your weightlifting workouts matters.
34) Being mindful during your exercises and engaging your muscles is so much more important than reps or weights.
35) Prioritizing rest, even if it means you miss a workout does not mean you’re lazy. It means you’re human.
36) Your body knows better than you or the internet or your doctor. Always. Listen to your gut.
37) Planning your meals is everything (within reason).
38) Going to the gym isn’t the only form of exercise. Healthy living is a lifestyle. Bike. Run. Walk. Enjoy.
39) Your healthy journey is not linear. You will make progress, and fall back frequently. It’s a lifestyle.
40) Invite friends to exercise with you as a form of nourishing that relationship AND getting movement in.
41) Engage your abs in EVERY move. THAT is the secret to sculpted abs.
42) But, genetics plays a HUGE role in what your abdominal muscles will look like.
43) Do more of what feels true to you.
Digital Health and Wellness Tips
44) Stop scrolling, and start reading more.
45) Unfollow people who don’t make you feel good, even if it’s all of your old high school “friends.” You don’t need them.
46) Just because everyone else has social media, doesn’t mean you have to. I had TikTok for a while, but I didn’t like the way it made me feel so I deleted it.
47) You don’t always have to take your phone with you.
48) Sometimes, nature walks without a podcast, or music is the most fulfilling thing.
Health and Wellness Tips for Students
49) In my opinion, college really wasn’t about the assignments. While those were important, it was more so about learning who I was and what I represented/tolerated when I was there.
50) Unless you’re studying to be a doctor, lawyer, or accountant, your grades don’t matter THAT much. Do your best, but a B, C, D, or even an F is not the end of the world.
51) Learning how to build relationships and network is more important than what you learn in your textbook (99% of the time).
52) What you study may not be what you end up pursuing and that’s okay. Life is about building on experiences.
Health and Wellness Tips for Employees
53) Your work is NOT your life, it is a part of your life.
54) It is okay to leave situations that no longer serve you.
55) Money is really not that hard to make and you WILL find another job. Believe in what you know and trust that if you’re unhappy, you’re not stuck – you deserve better and you will find it.
56) Don’t be afraid to ask for a raise.
57) You do not have to say yes to the first offer (especially us women). Negotiate.
58) If something in your professional life inspires you, do MORE of that.
59) It’s okay to make a career change at any point in your life.
Health and Wellness Tips for the Holidays
60) Enjoying the holidays will not ruin your healthy living journey.
61) Sometimes eating less of a lot of things feels better than gorging yourself on one really good thing.
62) Life is about living. You should never feel guilty about enjoying yourself, especially during the holidays.
63) Fitness is not all or nothing. Just because you enjoyed yourself or your favorite treats does not mean that you can’t also move your body or practice healthy habits on the same day.
Tips for a Healthy Lifestyle
64) Cook more, eat out less. You don’t know what restaurants are actually putting in your food.
65) A lot of a good thing, is a bad thing. Everything in moderation (exercise, healthy eating, desserts, alcohol, you name it).
66) You only need to move your body for 30 minutes a day to see results and reap the benefits of a healthy lifestyle.
67) Your weight does not matter. How you feel does.
68) Progress photos > weighing yourself on the scale. Always.
69) Relaxing is productive.
70) Be intentional about who you spend your time with. You are the average of the people you spend the most time with.
71) Focus more on what you’re doing right, not what you’re doing wrong.
72) Reward yourself when you achieve something you worked hard for.
73) Make an effort to try out new recipes! Eating healthy doesn’t have to be boring or taste bad.
74) Continue to educate yourself and invest in your health and well-being (books, workout programs, healthy food, etc.)
75) My mom’s a Dietitian. She always said “You can either pay for it now (healthy food) or pay for it later (disease from lack of healthy habits) – either way, you’re going to pay for it.”
76) How you start your day sets the tone for the day. Morning routines in moderation matter.
77) If you have health goals, track your progress.
78) Only take advice from people who you want to be more like.
79) Sometimes being spontaneous is more important than following a regimented routine. It’s all about balance.
80) You’ll never be perfect and that’s okay.
Bonus Healthy Living Tips
81) Sometimes, you really are just being lazy and you have to rely on your discipline and habits to get you through.
82) In the end, you won’t remember what you did, you’ll remember how you felt. Prioritize things and people that make you feel GOOD.
83) Learning what you don’t like is more valuable than learning what you do like.
84) Let go of people who no longer “serve” you.
85) There’s no better investment than in your health.
86) You are never alone. There are people who care about you and believe in you. Always.
87) Your mental health is just as important as your physical health.
88) There is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothes. Going outside in the winter too (especially in colder climates) is totally possible!
89) Our bodies are like used cars. The more we drive them (or in this case, move our bodies), the easier it is to maintain them (and the less likely that there will be a catastrophic breakdown).
90) Finding ways to move your body in your daily routine is the easiest way to commit to movement (park farther away, take the stairs, etc.)
91) Muscle weighs more than fat. If you are lifting, you will gain weight and this is a GOOD thing.
92) The muscle is built when you are resting, not when you are working out. Prioritize rest.
Life Tips
93) Just because you weren’t productive one day doesn’t mean you wasted that day.
94) Your life partner is one of the most important decisions you will ever make. Be sure to choose them wisely.
95) It will take you exactly as long as you say it will take you to do something. Set timers, and be intentional with your time.
96) Being aware of your own faults is important.
97) Just because everyone else likes alcohol, doesn’t mean that you have to.
98) Prioritize a nourishing breakfast. Always.
99) You don’t have to center every meal around meat. I eat mostly plant-based because it makes ME feel the best!
100) Staying in doesn’t make you a loser. It makes you human. You do not need to go out every weekend if you don’t want to.
101) Know where you get your energy from (do you recharge from other people or from within?).
